GENERAL PURPOSE
General Purpose electric motors are available in a wide variety of construction enclosures, from industrial steel band open designs to enclosed cast iron designs – in both single and three phase – for harsh applications. Designed for “general purpose” use means that these motors can be used in many applications.
Also available in open drip proof (ODP) rolled steel, open drip proof (ODP) cast iron, totally enclosed air over (TEAO) cast iron, totally enclosed air over/ totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) rolled steel and totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) cast iron through our various general purpose motor suppliers.
AC motors are used in a variety of home appliance and industrial applications because of their cost-effectiveness, high efficiency and great durability.
Since AC motors utilize a rotating magnetic field that requires no brushes, they have fewer parts to break down and cause costly delays in operation.
Some of the applications that commonly use AC motors include washing machines and other home appliances, pumps, blowers, conveyors, compressors and almost any industrial equipment.
